New video out of Philadelphia International. Near gate E8. Two people are already trading blows.
They hadn’t waited to hit the ground for this. Reports say the fight started inside the cabin, with one passenger apparently telling the other they “gotta battle.”
The woman hits the floor hard. The other lunges over her. Hands grab at heads. Chaotic. Another traveler tries to intervene, goes to grab the aggressor’s hair, gets kicked in the process. That’s when the crowd actually moves. Passengers step in to pull them apart.
Online chatter points the finger at Frontier Airlines. Their gates are in that section.
Fair enough. Southwest and Allegiant use the E gates too.
Where did the punch start?
If it happened onboard, the FAA has jurisdiction. Federal rules. If it stayed strictly in the terminal after doors opened, that’s local police work. Airport PD. Either way, welcome to Philly. It holds the dubious honor of being rated the worst large airport in America, at least according to certain surveys. I’ll grant you the baggage claim is a circus. But have you tried the Chase lounge? Or American’s Flagship? The views alone make up for the drama on the curb.
This isn’t a glitch in the system. It’s the new normal.
Employees stand by and film while fights break out at baggage claim in Minneapolis. Officers in Fort Lauderdale walk right past brawls like nothing is happening. Chicago O’Hare is no different.
We are conditioned to watch.
Why do we let them?
