Listen up Chase cardholders. If you carry a Sapphire or a Freedom card, pay attention. Starting now and running through Dec. 31. There is a new perk in town. Earn 10 extra Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar spent. Up to $1,50 a month. But there’s a catch. You have to check out through Paze at specific merchants.
This isn’t just minor news. It changes how you spend. Chase rarely gives out broad multipliers like this. Most perks are narrow or fleeting. This one? It’s significant. If you’re hoarding points. Or planning big trips. This matters.
Which Cards Count?
Not every plastic wins here. It’s selective. Here is the list.
- Chase Freedom Flex®
- Chase Freedom Unlimited®
- Chase Freedom® (dead card for new apps but still works for existing users)
- Chase Sapphire Preferred®
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Confirmed by my own dashboard and writers like Augusta Stone at The Points Guy. It works. But check the exclusions carefully. Cobranded cards? No. Business cards? Generally no. Nick Ewen checked his Sapphire Reserve for Business. The Paze category was missing. So stick to the consumer cards. Don’t waste time hunting it on business profiles.
Where Can You Spend?
The merchant list is thin. But the brands? They’re big.
- Domino’s
- Dunkin’ Donuts
- Fanatics
- Newegg
- Sephora
- Whataburger
- United Airlines
That last one. United Airlines. It’s the game changer.
I was planning to book a cash ticket with my United Explorer. Usually. The Explorer pulls better miles rates for flights. Not this time. The Paze bonus shifts the math. Ten points on the dollar beats the standard air miles rate if you’re playing the Ultimate Rewards game right.
You can see the full list of partners here. Use Paze at checkout. If points don’t appear? Wait a week. Then call Chase.
“Just make sure to select Paze.”
Simple instruction. Most people skip steps. Don’t be that person.
Do You Need to Opt-In?
No. It’s automatic.
That’s rare. Usually banks hide bonuses behind activation portals. Here. Just use Paze. That’s it. The 10 points stack. They add on top of whatever category the merchant usually falls under. It doesn’t replace them. It augments them.
Think about it. You get the base rate plus 10. It’s free points. Basically. As long as you route your payment correctly. And you do it before Dec. 31. The deadline is hard. Miss it and the bonus vanishes.
The Play
If you need points. This is your move. The merchant list is limited but recognizable enough to work for.
I’m booking my next United flight this way. Here is why. I’ll use my Sapphire Preferred®. Paze gives 10 points/dollar on United. The card itself gives 2 points/dollar on travel. Combined. I get 12 points per dollar. On up to $1,550 worth of spending this month.
It’s efficient. Maybe too good to last. Chase doesn’t give away leverage easily. When this ends. It probably stays away for a long time. So grab the points now. Before the door closes.
What’s your strategy? Going for United? Or just stacking groceries? Probably doesn’t matter as much as doing it before December.
