Citi is offering this. Again.
It joins the transfer bonus going to I Prefer Hotel Rewards, though that’s a different beast entirely. I won’t touch it, but here are the details, just in case your mileage differs from mine.
The numbers on the table
Usually it is a 1:1 swap. You trade 1 000 ThankYou Points for 1 000 Wyndham points. Minimum increments apply, always in 1 00s.
With this promo the ratio shifts.
You get 1 250 Wyndham Points for every 1 000 you burn from Citi. It’s hard coded, meaning the system should spit out the bonus immediately. No coupons. No codes. Just hit transfer. The points move fast too, generally instant.
And you can do this as many times as you like. Unlimited transfers.
Wyndham has been a partner since 2021. This marks the sixth bonus of this kind. If you hold cards like the Citi Strata Premier or the Citi Strata Elite you can pool points across accounts, making the transfer logistically simple even if the strategy isn’t.
Is it worth your time?
I would say no.
Generally, I value Wyndham Points at 0.7 cents. Do the math. Even with that nice little 25% gift you are still sitting at roughly 0.56 cents per transferred ThankYou Point.
It’s low.
Most folks can buy Wyndham Points for less than a cent during their sales cycles anyway.
So why give away points that might be better used elsewhere?
Wyndham redemptions usually land on three tiers. 7 500 points. 15 000 points. 30 000 points for premium stays that are few and far between. The inventory isn’t deep, and the value caps out quickly.
It feels like Wyndham deserves a better default ratio than 1:1 just to keep up with the cost of living in travel. A 25% bump doesn’t fix that.
The bottom line
You have until June 13.
For most of us, this is a pass. The math just doesn’t sing.
Unless you are trying to top off a specific account for a cheap redemption or some weird niche situation works in your favor, save those points.
There might be a better place for them to live. Or maybe they won’t matter at all. 🤷♂️
